Insight Fox launches as a specialist participant recruitment agency for qualitative market research
The new WMM GmbH brand combines 22 years of recruitment experience with personal screening, transparent feasibility assessments and a consistent focus on quality.
Hamburg, 10 September 2026 – Insight Fox has launched as a new specialist brand dedicated to recruiting research participants for qualitative market research. Insight Fox was created in 2026 as a spin-off from Hamburg-based WMM GmbH. Behind the new brand is the same team that has been supporting qualitative research projects and demanding participant recruitment assignments for companies and research institutes since 2004.
At the heart of Insight Fox is a simple conviction: the quality of a qualitative study begins with the people taking part in it. A well-moderated interview with the wrong person is still a poor interview. That is why Insight Fox does not treat participant recruitment as a purely administrative step, but as an integral part of the research methodology.
“From our perspective, recruitment is only good when we can place every single participant into our client’s interview with confidence,” says Thorsten Weber, founder and Managing Director of WMM GmbH. “It is not enough for someone to complete an online screener and then simply appear as one of eight names on a list. We want to know whether a person genuinely meets the criteria, whether their answers are plausible and whether they can contribute something relevant to the research topic.”
Personal screening instead of anonymous panel automation
Insight Fox therefore works with a multi-stage recruitment process. Potential participants are first identified according to the defined target-group criteria and assessed through pre-screeners and screeners. For many projects, this is followed by a personal telephone check. Key criteria are verified again, while motivation, ability to articulate experiences and overall suitability for a qualitative interview are also assessed.
Where appropriate and possible, information is additionally validated. In B2B research, this may include a participant’s role, employer or company size. At the same time, Insight Fox deliberately avoids briefing participants on the answers that may be expected. The purpose of recruitment is to find the right people – not to shape their opinions in advance.
Another difference is the way Insight Fox approaches difficult target groups. The company does not intend to accept every project at any price. If certain criteria, timelines or budgets do not appear realistic based on experience, this is communicated at an early stage. If a target group cannot be recruited credibly under the given conditions, Insight Fox may decline the project.
“An honest no can be more valuable to a client than a yes that cannot later be delivered,” Weber says. “We do not promise that every target group is available at any time. We promise to be transparent about what is realistic, where the risks lie and what options are available.”
Quality continues after confirmation
For Insight Fox, good recruitment does not end when a participant confirms attendance. Appropriate incentives, personal reminders, availability checks before the session and active participant management are intended to reduce no-shows. During recruitment, clients receive proactive project updates and are informed early if difficulties arise – wherever possible together with concrete options for resolving them.
Recruitment is carried out across Germany, in both urban and rural areas, for remote and in-person studies. The scope includes B2C, B2B and healthcare audiences as well as hard-to-reach, specialist and premium target groups. For international projects, Insight Fox draws on a network of local recruitment partners built over many years.
With its new website, Insight Fox is also adding greater digital transparency to the recruitment process. Prospective clients can obtain an initial, non-binding project assessment. Commissioned clients receive access to a dedicated project status area where they can follow information such as recruitment progress, published quotas, milestones and current updates. Operational assessment and decision-making, however, deliberately remain with the recruitment team.
Not “fast and cheap”, but dependable
Insight Fox explicitly does not position itself around the lowest price or maximum speed. In qualitative research, excessively short recruitment timelines or incentives that are too low can mean that the people who genuinely matter to the research are less likely to participate. The decisive factor is therefore not how quickly a participant list appears complete, but whether the people on that list genuinely fit the research question.
“Many problems in qualitative studies arise before the first interview has even started,” Weber says. “If the wrong people are recruited, even the best moderation cannot correct that afterwards. That is precisely where we want Insight Fox to make a difference.”
